Post by chickensoopIngolf - park your car in the lot, bike over the tracks. Turn right
and go down the road, down the hill and back up the other side. Go
down the rail tracks a couple hundred feet and keep an eye on the left
hand side. You will come to a cut in the grass and a gravel
embankment very steep. That is the start.
It is easy to get mixed up as there are several trails. Best to have a
GPS to find your way out again. Or take some colored ribon to mark
your way. Try to remove it on your way out.
Bring a change of clothes and expect to get muddy. There is one spot
where you are almost up to your waste in muddy water. Lots of fun as
long as it is warm. And - don't bust your leg as it is a long crawl
back. Take tools too, as it is easy to bust up your bike if you take
a tumble.
FYI - some bozo clear cut the main line. A real disaster for that
part of the trail. Does anyone know if this is legal to do this? He
chopped down everything in site, about 100 feet across, probably all
the way to Kenora.
Hopefully someone can shut this guy down before he wipes out biking at
Ingolf. All kinds of sticks and stumps in the way - looks really
dangerous to snowmobiles when winter comes. Somebody's going to get
impaled.
The "bozo" that clear-cut the "main line" at Ingolf is Weyerhauser Inc,
one of the world's biggest pulp & paper companies. Good luck trying to
stop them - they are there to log and will leave when they are done.
-Just so you know, Gord's Mountain Bike Club (www.gords.com) out of
Winnipeg, Manitoba did a ride-along with one of the Weyerhauser execs
before logging started to show how much the area means to the sport of
Mountain Biking; and they managed to convince them to spare almost 3/4 of
the original intended swath.

By the way, the trail network there is the "back yard" of a good 3 dozen
cottagers and not all of them are avid mountain bikers - so please don't
mark any trails, because they have threatened to close the area to
mountain biking if they find any more tape.
