GM Hitch-Mounted Bicycle Carrier

I do a lot of Mtn. Biking and have traditionally used Yakima (top of
the car) bike racks to haul my bikes around.

Now that I have my Z71 I was looking at getting a hitch mounted bike
rack, I want to use the bed for all the camping gear, etc...

Has anyone used the GM hitch mounted rack from the GMGoodwrench
accessory shop? How is the quality, I have pretty nice Mtn. Bikes
($2k+) so I need to make sure they don't slop around and are held nice
and snug.

I was going to go ahead and get another Yak Rack but I ran across the
GM version, it's cheaper (which may indicate quality), I just wanted
to check thoughts, experiences, etc... with this rack if avail.

I need a rack that can hold at least four bikes.

Thanks!

BTW: A link to the GM Website for this rack is:

yo Xao, i use a hitch mounted bike transport rack on my GF's 2004
expedition. it is not a GM product. its called a bauer. there are some
reviews at MTBR ,--< there are some security issues but i use a big old
chain and i lock my bikes up to the class 3 trailer hitch safety loops .
i hope my bike is safe
http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Bike_Rack/product_19920.shtml > also i
experienced sever paint damage to both my bicycles top tubes. the
manufacture and the reviews never mentioned that. i assumed my $4000.00
bicycle's paint was safe because the clamp that holds the bikes in place is
covered in really soft rubber. i'll send you pics of my ruined paint if you
wish.

there is an extension ' thingy' available that will accommodate 2 more
bikes, when everything is tight and secure the bicycles do not rub on
eachother. there is also a device that clamps on your seat post and your
stem. creating another (top tube) but be aware that any contact area that
touches your bike will loose paint. generally i'm happy with the transport
rack. but i only use it on long trips. be prepared to spend 20 min. per
bicycle putting them on and taking them off. that's 40 min spent ( not
riding ) per bicycle.

Probably the best you can possibly do is a Sportworks rack or
something similar to it. See http://www.sportworks.com , for example.
They're pricey, but they're good. You'll need to purchase the 3rd and
4th bike trays separately, and you're looking at probably close to
$550 plus shipping by the time you're done.
