What exactly is float? My clipless pedals allow me to adjust this. Really,
all I'm concerned with is quick and easy access in and out of my pedals.

Thanks,

Basically float is the "free" play in foot movement before your cleat
disengages from your pedal. You want some float to allow for natural
changes in foot position relative to the pedal that occur during pedalling
and manouvers.
